When you talk about BMW immediately comes to mind a beautiful, powerful, agile sport car. Then mind fly immediately to Z models Z3 Coupe and Z4 M Coupe. How current Z4 model has a folding steel roof, your are thinking that such a car with a solid roof is pointless. Then u see this picture and fall inlove instantly.

BUT

Despite being highly acclaimed by the enthusiasts, the Z4 Shooting Brake seem to have consumed its run at BMW and several reports claim that the Munich-based automaker has no plans for a new Shooting Brake vehicle based on the new E89 Z4 Roadster.

What means Shooting Brake ? (Wikipedia)

A Shooting-brake, or “Shooting Break”, is a 2-door car body style with a squared-off rear. They generally have a rear liftgate like a wagon or a hatchback although one or a pair of side-hinged doors is also sometimes seen.

The term originated with custom built 2-door luxury  estate cars altered for use by hunters and other sportsmen such as golfers, riders, and polo players requiring easy access to larger storage areas than offered by the typical automobile boot.

The origin of the phrase has been lost, to the point that currently both spellings “shooting brake” and “shooting break” are used.

BMW introduced the current generation of BMW 1Series in 2004 (speaking here of the five-door version). So it’s time for an upgrade! And this is a good thing for some BMW critics who see BMW 1 Series, as a variant of the 3Series  lowered.  (I do not know how they reached to this conclusion).

On the other hand, however, we must admit that 1 series has great performance for a car in its class: 135i has about the same performance as the old M3!

New generation of  BMW 1Series will occur somewhere between September 2010 and March 2011; will get new engines and EfficientDynamics technology will be standard on any model

The range of engines will include:

116i – 136 hp 1.3 liter turbo

118i – 177 hp 1.3 liter turbo

120i - 218 hp 2.0 liter turbo

130i – 272 hp 3.0-liter

135is – 326 hp 3.0-liter twin turbo

And Diesel:

118d – 150 hp 2.0 liter turbo

120d – 2.0 liter turbocharged 184-hp

123d – 211 hp 2.0-liter twin turbo.

Next year, BMW fans will get acquainted with the younger brother of current 5-Series GT. It’s derivative Gran Turismo of the current 3 Series, expected to debut at the Frankfurt motor show.

At that time, we can say hello to X4, X6′s younger brother.

About  3 Series GT we don’t know very much, but we expect that the model will borrow a number of technical elements of big brother 7 Series , including a series of cutting-edge gadgets. Under the hood will find current petrol and diesel engines, completed with four six-cylinder engines.
